The Big 12 Conference is a conference of ten universities located in the central United States. The conference is headquartered in Irving, Texas. The conference participates in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) as a football-only conference.
History
The Big 12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas. The Big 12 Conference is a conference of ten schools located in the midwestern and southwestern United States. The members of the conference are: Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech, and West Virginia.
The conference was founded on February 25th, 1994. The conference was created by the merger of the Big 8 Conference and the Southwest Conference. The first game in Big 12 Conference history was played on September 3rd, 1996 when Kansas defeated Iowa State.
The Big 12 Conference is currently the only Power Five conference that does not have a football championship game.
