The Virginia Tech Hokies have a few upcoming games that they will be playing in. Men’s Basketball
The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team is a NCAA Division I college basketball team that competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hokies’ head coach is Mike Young, and their home games are played at Cassell Coliseum on Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg, Virginia campus.
The Hokies have made twenty-one postseason appearances, ten of which were in the NCAA Tournament. They reached the Sweet Sixteen five times and the Elite Eight once, in 1967. They also won the National Invitation Tournament championship in 1995. As of 2020, Virginia Tech has an all-time winning percentage of .638, which is tied for fifty-first among programs with at least 1,000 games played.
Women’s Basketball
The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team represents Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in NCAA Division I college basketball. They compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The team is currently coached by Kenny Brooks and play their home games at Cassell Coliseum on Virginia Tech’s campus in Blacksburg, Virginia.
The Hokies have made seven appearances in the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament, with an overall record of 4–7. Their best finish came in 1993, when they advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.
They have also made three appearances in the WNIT, with an overall record of 3–3. Their best finish came in 2007, when they advanced to the quarterfinals.

Virginia Tech began play in 1974 under head coach Curt Newsome. The program gained NCAA Division I status in 1985 and joined the Metro Conference, which became the Atlantic Coast Conference in 1991. In 1995, under head coach Bonnie Henrickson, the Hokies won 25 games and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. In 1998, Henrickson led the Hokies to a 28–4 record and their first ever appearance in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen; she was named National Coach of the Year by both espnW and CBSSports.com that season. Under Buzz Williams, who was hired on May 28, 2014, the Hokies won 11 games in his first season before finishing 15-16 overall, 4-14 in ACC play.
